Acceptable Forms of ID

Before any notarizations or signings, notary publics are required by law to demand personal appearance and identify all signers. Acceptable identification must meet the following requirements:

1. Current

2. Contains the signature OR a photograph of the individual

3. Is satisfactory to the notary

Acceptable identification includes, but is not limited to:

• A US Passport or passport card

• State-issued drivers license

• Military ID

• State, county, or local government ID

• Inmate identification card issued by Department of Corrections

• Social Security Card

• PA Medical Marijuana card

Unacceptable forms of ID

• Birth certificate

• Marriage certificate

• School and library cards

• Credit & debit cards
